Jonron! Baseball among peasants in Nicaragua

Baseball (here, it's "beisbol") is Nicaragua's National Sport. The Nicaraguan national baseball teams often fare well in international sports events such as the Olympics and the World Championships, especially in contrast to the small population, grinding poverty, and miniscule governmental support for sports in Nicaragua in general.
Every town and community is engaged in the Sunday afternoon baseball game tradition. Leagues reach the most remote rural areas and traverse all ethnicities. Those who can not play, watch.

Here, we show photos of the local rivalry between Cruz de Mayo (Catarina) and San Juan de Oriente. This time, "our" boys (Estacion Biologica is located in the municipality of Catarina) won, 9 to 6. One resident of Laguna de Apoyo Nature Reserve, Peter, played in the game, attended by volunteers and students of Apoyo Spanish School . But who was keeping score?
